Call for Submissions: Sex Cells
Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
In modern society, a pretty decent amount of our flirting takes place in the form of cell phone messages. Whether it be in the form of text, photo or video, cell phones provide a low-stakes medium for proposition each other without running the risk of being called a pervert to your face. But what do you do with these messages after they have served their purpose? The obvious answer: You try to pass them off as art and possibly win some cash.
3rd Ward, Brooklyn’s own “high-end, multi disciplinary, open source facility for creative professionals,” is currently searching for well-executed, erotic expressions made using only a cell phone. Text messages, videos and photos will be accepted up until April 15th. Judges for the contest include TASCHEN book editor Dian Hanson, Chase Lisbon of supercult and nerve, and Senior Editor of Time Out New York, Ashlea Halpern. Five hundred dollars will go to the winning submission and many will be selected to be featured in a group show/reception and possibly be featured in 3rd Ward’s own quarterly publication.

thanks a lot
