Paul Ford’s Six-Word SXSW Reviews

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

By Chris Teja

To celebrate the beginning of this year’s South by Southwest music festival, Paul Ford from The Morning News wrote 1,302 six-word reviews of mp3s submitted by this year’s bands. I found the positive (Good voice, lots of moving parts.), negative (Wants me anxious, but I’m bored.), and borderline unintelligible (Why are bears in cages anyway?) all to be equally entertaining. Here are a few personal favorites:

-When… will… the… song… begin? (0:32)

-Not not exciting, but he sings.

-Bluegrass proudly indifferent to proper grammar.

-I cannot form an opinion here.

-Obviously exists solely for pussy acqusition.

-A lady is bitter, and drunk.

- She dumped him, and his guitar.

And for more six-wordage on the festival, head over to the twitter page and read over the submissions to our SOUTH BY SIX WORD CHALLENGE where readers tweeted six words on their most memorable SXSW experience.

However, this partnership took an unexpected turn when Spotify decided to shut down heardle game in April 2023, prioritizing other avenues for music discovery.
