Every cell in the body wants to live. Why do we have pain-receptors? So they can tell the brain that you've accidentally put your hand on that hot-plate and to pull it away. The person suffering from depression isn't just in pain, their pain never ends and they view death's perceived peacefulness as preferable to their interminable suffering.
About TWLOHA
To Write Love on Her Arms is a nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. As James Earl Jones explains in six words in this video, "Help is real, hope is real."
