I mourn my old self, but...

Backstory

My Bipolar meds help mostly. I'm hardly ever depressed anymore and not anything like before. But still, I miss my old (manic) self. I miss being hyper productive and high as a kite happy. I miss staying up for three days. The creative spark, that still comes, but not so easily or fully. I miss my old me. But I know staying on my medication is important. So I will. And I'll cry sometimes while I take the pills.

DynamicDbytheC says,

I like being productive, hyper and happy. So I can understand that you miss that part of your disease. I would, too. However, I would not want depression, so it is worth taking your meds. You have good insight into your self. If you have time, Patti Duke, an actress before your time, wrote a great book about her struggle with bi-polar. It was before professionals really had a common understanding of the disease and treatment options, medications, were limited.
