Dhani says,

*Some readers may remember the famous Arthur Frommer travel books of the late 50s, early 60s, like 'Mexico On $5 a day'. I've survived in Mexico for a number of years on a $489 Social Security check, which comes to $17 a day. In the small, peaceful village where I live you can rent a one-bedroom (non-luxurious) apartment for $100/ month and a four-bedroom, three-bathroom house from $400 to $500 a month. (20 minute jeep ride to Sam's Club, Walmart and a state-of-the-art hospital.)
