*OBAMA on ABC July 12 said that he can't guarantee the delivery of Social Security checks this coming August 3rd because of the default crisis! This comes close to home for this memoirist, because I survive on $489 check each month, it's my lifeline.

*(One can actually survive on $489 a month in Mexico, but it translates to basic living accomodations in outlying agricultural areas, with a simple peasant diet of corn tortillas, beans, rice, veggies & some fish & chicken. The fruit is plentiful & cheap, so it's a healthy poor man's diet. It's been reported that a growing number of semi-retired & retired Americans are moving to Mexico to stretch the power of their U.S. dollars. PS For every ugly border drug war, there's 10,000 pockets of peace to be found in Mexico.)
