I've often asked that same question. As the years go by and you live with depression, it's edges begin to dull and it starts to feel normal, familiar - safe even. Not that that is a good thing, my friend. You need a good support group around you - friends, family etc... I always feel bad when someone else talks about their depression - just because I know where it can lead. I cover mine with humor - that's what works for me (or not since it's still a reoccuring illness in my life!!! LOL). You need to find an outlet - writing is an excellent way to let go.
