Cate Batts not Bell family poltergeist.
Backstory
I felt compelled to spend 2 years of my life researching and writing the story of the Bell Witch, a poltergeist, who haunted the family of John and Lucy Bell in Adams, Tennessee, from 1817 to 1821. I visited courthouses and libraries in 4 states, interviewed descendants who did not exist according to the archives, visited the Bell Witch Cave, and even talked with psychics. My book entitled “The Bell Witch Unveiled At Last! The True Story Of A Poltergeist” written under my pen name of DJ Lyons helps to prove the innocence of Cate Batts (often spelled Kate) who was wrongly accused of engineering the haunting of the Bell family.
I discovered there was a massive cover-up by both the descendants of John and Lucy Bell and by the descendants of Cate and Frederick Batts After all, in the early 1800s, if your mother was accused of witchcraft, would you be able to have a good marriage or any kind of marriage at all? In truth, three poltergeists followed John Bell from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to Adams, Tennessee, seeking their revenge.
My Bell Witch Unveiled book unveils all the secrets. Visit http://bellwitchunveiled.com for more information about my book and my one-woman show called “The Bell Witch Unveiled.” My goal is to alleviate superstition and fear and to bring light to a story that has been shrouded in fear and mystery for far too long. Who am I? I am Debbie Dunn, a professional storyteller and author from Mosheim, Tennessee.
