Kindness escapes some, belief escapes me.

illuminatrix says,

I'm with ya. People don't get it. My favorite writer/thinker said, "Belief is the death of intelligence." The expanded version is this: “I don't believe anything I write or say. I regard belief as a form of brain damage, the death of intelligence, the fracture of creativity, the atrophy of imagination. I have opinions but no Belief System (B.S.)” I think belief should be employed, but in a fluid, dynamic, and multiplicitous way. Even the word 'reality' should never be found in the singular form.

MLEwritergirl says,

I definitely agree. However, I meant that some people find it so incredibly difficult to be kind, and I find that incredibly hard to believe! I definitely have beliefs of my own, but sometimes this one is difficult to wrap my head around.

illuminatrix says,

Gotcha. Too right. I'm similarly miffed by people who can't apologize no matter what. Seems pretty easy to me, and terribly important. But I find it equally baffling by some people's chronic dickishness. Some people can't even be COURTEOUS. Found their values in the sewer, maybe?

MLEwritergirl says,

I could not agree more! It's nice to know other people feel the same way. It's also severely frustrating when people make the conscious decision to be rude and mean. It's just so unnecessary and so easily solved, too!
