I'll see you on the rink.
Backstory
I got in touch a few weeks ago with a girl I went to church with years ago. She's on the Philly Roller Derby team now. I asked her some questions about derby and she was really helpful answering, and then... a huge long letter about how I'm probably not going to be good at it. After all, she's sustained sprained ankles, a smooshed finger, and she goes to the gym once a week and rides her bike. And it's doubtful, apparently, that I could handle being bumped into by a girl who goes to the gym.I told her I gave birth on a farm, on my own, with no drugs, to a posterior baby with a nuchal hand. I've also broken my leg, my collar bone, sprained ankles, walked three miles on a bleeding, blistered foot in August... and I want to skate.
It may well turn out that I'm not the best skater in the world, or that I don't have the time, or that for one reason or another, it doesn't work out. But it won't be because I'm not tough enough.
Bitch. >_>
