It was so weird, I was trying to explain her to a younger couple, long story. She has the look already, that James had near the end. I really liked her talent and I thought she was a together woman outside of acting.

I just read about her and felt so sad. I didn't really read anything, just the headlline blurb. Didn't want to read any more. I loved Rhoda. Loved her artsy apartment, and all her scarves. And plants! Was so happy when she met Joe and fell in love. My favorite episode was when she had a falling out with Mary and she wanted to make up, but wasn't sure how to break the ice. So she put fake trash in a bag and walked down the stairs hoping to bump into her. She was so funny, she admits to having fake trash to Mary (it is really all her make-up, and she had ALOT). I still think of that to this day--whenever I take the trash or recycling out hoping to bump into my cute neighbor. Ah, Rhoda.

My family would watch the MTM show and Mom would always comment on how lovely Mary was, how well she dressed, how cute her apartment was and the whole time I'm thinking,"No, Mom. It's ALL about Rhoda." She's sarcastic! She designed department store windows! She had a beaded door! A bean bag chair! In the 70's I got a bean bag, I tried making a beaded door and (unsuccessfully) wore the scarves. Now I have a long (down to my knees) open knit vest that I wear with a black turtleneck and everyone calls me Rhoda. (Finally!) She's been my style/attitude icon my whole life. I was a little waspy girl in the suburbs and all I wanted was to be that beautiful, Jewish woman.

Ohhhh, the beaded door! Yes, I forgot that. For Halloween, I'd always wear scarves like Rhoda and say I was a gypsy (only I really was Rhoda). It was the only time I could get away with the "look". Funny, funny, funny! I have an open weave sweater that is long and I feel so sassy wearing it. Now I know why!
