15 years later, need a biopsy.

Backstory

I am a lucky breast cancer survivor, 15 years post-diagnosis. Today at yearly mammogram, they found "something suspicious", and I need to have a biopsy on 3/15. I can't speak this out loud yet. I can't share with my mom, as she would be a basket case, and I can't deal with that right now. Yesterday was my birthday and two of my dearest friends forgot, I'm not feeling surrounded by supportive people right now and need a hug.

Thanks, girls, it helps to have you all to count on.

Dragonflower says,

I have a good friend who always tells me to not worry until it is time to worry. Atticus used to tell Scout that too. It is great you had a mammogram and are taking care of yourself! The radiologist just has to be certain. Sending positive thoughts your way.

PS Happy Birthday! March is a great month for a birthday. Love the birthstone. Such a pretty light blue. Take care!

Dean6805 says,

We're pulling for you, LL! And happy birthday!

jl333 says,

Happy Belated birthday woman! Cyber hug to you...

notjustagirlintheworld says,

What he said :D

lovelylizard says,

I'm feeling the love, people and it's helping, really. I'm just having a tiny pity party for one and I'll be better tomorrow.

ShellDeFelice says,

I missed the backstory the first go round. Happy Late Birthday! Hope this year has nothing but clear skys and scans for you!!!!!

NumbrOneAunt says,

{{{{{HUG}}}}} will say prayers for you, starting now, and on march 15 you will be my "prayer project" - i'll be streaming prayers all day for you on that day. please do be sure to keep us posted. here are some one-liners to make you smile (or maybe groan):
why do we sing 'take me out to the ball game' when we are already there?
how come abbreviated is such a long word?
why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?
Christmas: what other time of year do we sit around a dead tree and eat candy out of our socks?

another {{{hug}}} for good measure

lovelylizard says,

NOA - I'm smiling while I'm trying not to cry at work.

JAD says,

Wishing and praying everything well. Hope you had a good Birthday!

ShellDeFelice says,

I love NumbrOneAunt! I have you on my calendar girl and I will join in lifting you up to "no worries."

DynamicDbytheC says,

First of all, I am sorry. Doesn't this stir up that first, scary time? Secondly, I love Pisces. James was a Pisces.

catsmeow says,

I sure wish I could figure out how to not worry in advance. I've been through the "something suspicious" stage twice, all without any subsequent problems. Wishing the same "no problem" for you, ll. Meanwhile, "Stop worrying". (ha!)

lillybrook says,

Happy Birthday! May it be the beginning of a year that gets better every day. And -- hey -- breasts are lumpy; remember that it is as likely that it is nothing than that it is something. Until you know, sending nothing but healthy thoughts your way.

lovelylizard says,

I am truly feeling better this evening and am going to do my best to keep busy and not think about this until I have to. I'm a world champion of denial. Thank you all for your love, support, prayers and good wishes, I need it all. Our six word community ROCKS!

maryjane31 says,

Lovelylizard I just read this and feel so bad for you. Happy Birthday to you! Mine is in a week. I hope your biopsy is negative. I know so many people who had to have biopsies post breast cancer, and they came back good.I'm sending positive thoughts your way. Also prayers coming your way.Lovelylizard I am due for my mammogram this month and I have put it off so far. Feel scared.

KharisJo says,

AQScott says,

Belated birthday hugs... and more... hang in there, LL...

oopsalittle says,

belated birthday wishes :)
This exact thing happened to me last year. After seven years at my annual check up last year they found a 'small cell change'. I spent all of last year going for a check up every three months. It was really stressful - I think subconsciously I put my life on hold - stopped planning too far ahead...The great news is that so far everything is CLEAR. At my last check up this january my oncologist said he thinks the cell change is just due to aging (yippee). My next check up is in May and really hoping hat after that I'll be back to yearly check-ups.
I'm sending positive thoughts and big hugs from across the ocean:)

lovelylizard says,

Thanks, opps, I need positive feedback. I wish you many CLEAR years, and there's no Scientology involved in that statement - LOL!

oopsalittle says,

Thank you - we must stay brave :)

Mourningdove says,

Hugs and Best wishes!

canadafreeze says,

If I could hug you, I would, lovely. Sending warm, positive, clear thoughts your way. Happy, happy birthday.

Dragonflower says,

Lovelylizard, just reading over all the comments. They are all so loving for you! You mentioned you are the champion of denial. I am in 2nd place then! However, I believe denial can be a great tool, when used properly. For years I used it not to face real stuff, but then I stopped doing that and now employ it whenever my imagination gets the upper hand--my scary imagination, not the nice creative one. They are twins and one of them needs lots of timeouts!! :)

I wanted to add that I, too, was due for a mammogram this month (like maryjane31) and was delaying, just cuz...but your memoir made me get on the phone and make my appt. Each year that I go, the technology seems to improve--they are faster, less painful, and are read much quicker so results are known right away. I encourage everyone to keep up with these important tests. Thank you, Lovelylizard, for unknowingly encouraging me!

God thoughts to you, you alwsys!

Dragonflower says,

**Meant "good thoughts" but God thoughts works too!

lovelylizard says,

DE - I am so happy that you have made an appointment. Good luck. You are so right, the technology gets better all the time. I've had this week to come to work through my initial shock and I'm feeling hopeful. Thanks to the entire six community; we're all here for each other and that's pretty damn special.

Believe says,

I am absolutely certain that I tried to comment on this when I first saw it. I have no clue as to why my comment is missing from the line up.

Nonetheless, I have had you on my mind a lot this week. I am not a huge fan of birthdays, but I too have had years where people have forgotten. It feels less like they have forgotten your birthday and more like they have forgotten you. It is clear from your above well wishes that is not the case. Hoping that you are in good spirits and I will keep you in my thoughts.

lovelylizard says,

Thanks, Believe, appreciate your kind wisdom and good thougts. I will be wearing my Believe hat on Friday during the procedure.

L2L3 says,

Wishing you symbolic Believe body armor;-P
