Granddaughter sells pig for 800 dollars!

Backstory

My remarkable little granddaughter who is only 11 years old, sold the pig she raised at the 4-H fair. She won a blue ribbon for it as well. Although it cost her quite a bit to raise it for a year, she still came out ahead. We are all very proud of her.She lives in Texas and is raising two more.

accidentaltourist says,

Did she cry? I watched a 4-H boy weep inconsolably over the sale of his pig at the fair two years ago. He just laid there on that big old porker, sobbing into its shoulder. The pig was the one that should have been crying, he was destined to be bacon.

maryjane31 says,

She did cry the night before. My son gave me details. You have to remember that she has been with 4-H since she could walk and talk. Those country kids are raised with being competitive. I felt sad myself but will never show it when talking to her on phone or email. We never discussed what is going to happen to Piggy. My son admitted he also felt sad as did his wife. It is just a way of life down there in South Texas. It's what the kids do and they learn a lot from 4-H. For most of the kids in her class in school, it is their way of life. I will never eat pork EVER!
