And I live with these people...

Backstory

(as always, yes it has a backstory)

One of my step-mom’s friends, who stays with us periodically had to have a blood transfusion today… Her reaction was to refuse to get it because she was afraid that the blood was dirty because “it could have come from a filthy homosexual who has aids or something.” It wasn’t until her nurse told her that gay people can’t donate blood, that she agreed to it. And after that said "I'd rather die than share a room let alone blood with one of those ***'s." All the while my step-mom's mom (who lives with us) is standing there nodding and agreeing with her... and no one said a word.

Needless to say neither knows that I'm trans or bi, or that my boyfriend (whom they both like and think is the greatest kid in the world) is gay; I guess it's gonna stay that way too.

What a pain that you live in close proximity to someone who is so closed minded. That moment probably wasn't the time but maybe you will be the one to help her be more accepting someday. For now just remember to keep being an accepting person (even to yourself).

I guess they'll figure it out eventually... Just hopefully after I'm moved out and they're educated a little more.
Every time a comment like that is made by one of them (yes they happen quite regularly) I just have to bite my tongue, try to not laugh or say anything and walk away.

How sad at those close minded comments. A closed mind is a wonderful thing to lose
