Dad's voicemails. Can't listen. Too painful.

Backstory

I have several, back when he was good. Hubby wants to get me a new smartphone for my birthday (April). I don't want it because it'll be the last time I hear his voice. I need to know I always have his voice in my pocket, saying "Dear daughter o' mine" as he always did.

Been in that same spot marymc. One of my Moms closest friends has saved one of my Moms last voice mails. She played it for me not to long ago, and the tears came gushing out. It's painful to listen to.

Sagacious says,

There has to be a way of transferring the voicemail to the new phone.

L2L3 says,

There are recording services that will save it digitally in your computer. Also, when I got my new phone, with the same carrier, all the voicemails stayed put.

For years after my father was gone I heard my father's voice announcing my mother's name on her cell phone message and the the digital lady said 'is not available.' I found it oddly jarring and avoided it at all cost. Of course I grieved one tear at time, eight years later I can just now talk about him dry eyed.
