I will kill for a fried peach pie. But the world favors cookies. There are no stores in the mall with fried pies. Girl Scouts don't sell fried pies. There should be fried pies everywhere!
Hmmmm...another alternative for the non cooker .... use ready made pie crust and ready made peach pie filling (my grocery store has it in the baking section ... next to the chocolate chips...I buy the apple pie filling to make apple dump cake).
Or canned crescent rolls, a dollop of pie filling, fold over, seal edges with fork, bake.
What is a fried pie? Different from a baked one, right? Obviously. But I have never in my life heard of one.
I have done the crescent roll turnovers thing. And I've made chocolate pastries with the crescents too. I've eaten way too many of the Peppridge Farm cherry turnovers, or raspberry. Don't eat any of it anymore, but reading this still makes my mouth water !
Oh, I just realized I didn't see any GS today. I wonder if they are banned from my town. One guy was trying to do that for years. Maybe he finally succeeded. I need to research this.
Sounds delish. Like sweet french fries with fruit, in my mind. Bowling alley french fries, not McD french fries. My digestion wouldn't allow such a thing today, but a girl can dream....
I In my mind, it means warmth, home-cooking, sitting around a table with family, love, maybe some ice cream on top. An experience. So much more than a cookie. Pie has soul.
I love pie: fried pie, fruit pie, cream pie, candy bar pie... it is all good. I think cookies are smaller and more portable, and that's why they are ubiquitous.
It’s a sad, all too familiar story: harsh, distant, alcoholic father, sensitive, shy daughter always seeking his love and approval. Although there were flashes of kindness, most of my dad’s feelings had been buried long before. Even as...

I agree lillybrook. On my way to Macdonald's to get a pie. The Varsity is too far away.

Well, that was good. It was a baked apple pie from McD's. Not a fried peach pie from mama's kitchen. But it was a good substitute.
