Lizzie's beauty triumphs over internet ugliness.
Backstory
lizzie velasquez is a college student and motivational speaker who was born with an extremely rare condition (i believe the name is neonatal progeria - only three people in the world including lizzie have it) that means she can't gain weight. i somehow stumbled across an internet contest for "the ugliest woman in the world" (i have no idea how because it's certainly not the kind of thing i'd look for) and saw lizzie. i did a search specifically for her and found her website. her personality is so vivid and bright and positive that i honestly forgot about her physical appearance. i truly feel far sorrier for the people who would coceive of and spread such a contest than i do for lizzie - that mentality is an ugly you can't fix. lizzie has made an "it gets better" video about bullying. i hope you find it inspiring too:http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LmunU4JcEPc

I've seen her story, and it truly is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. What an amazing girl.canadafreeze says,
Extraordinary - heartwarming that she has found fulfillment in her life and has chosen to move positively.jl333 says,
I'm going to google her now. And as far as the ugliest person contest goes...I can't believe that such things exist!lovelylizard says,
Oh, jl, it exists, but it's the kind of ugly that isn't skin deep. It can be a diabolical, power hungry, narcissist, or a ruthless sadist. That's true ugly. Thanks for sharing this NOA.jl333 says,
Read Lizzie's story, and she is a true inspiration!notjustagirlintheworld says,
as Dorthy Parker (one of my faves said) "Beauty is skin deep but ugly goes right to the bone"
