First, I'm really sorry you feel upset. I have been there. Weekends can be the worst times. Second, your memoir made me laugh out loud because I remember being so angry as a teenager and I threw something that DID break. Then I had to clean it up, which made me even more mad. I had a funny best friend and when I told her, she said, "oh no, you must always throw the melmac plates, it isn't worth it otherwise!" The melmac (plastic) dishes weren't as satisfying to throw. They made a weird sound as they landed and would often just roll like a tire...before they fell on their side.
I feel for you. The only thing that used to make me happy was taking a bath. The water always soothed my spirits. And listening to music. Karen Carpenter was so soulfully sad, it always cheered me up. So did Neil Diamond. And the soundtrack to Camelot. Gosh that was a long time ago!
You are a great girl, Hannahmo! Don't forget that!
I was once so angry I threw a two-liter bottle of soda at the wall from across the room. My roommates were playing music, it hit the wall, made a weird plastic bottle sound and plopped onto the very soft futon below. Nobody heard it. So unsatisfying.
More recently, I broke a beer bottle against my parent's garage wall. And then picked up all the glass immediately. Also unsatisfying.
I usually never lose my cool but since I didn't have my music and I was sleep deprived, I just kinda lost it. Thanks Wench and DE for sharing your stories! :)
these six words leapt out from the sermon I heard in church this morning. Thanks Pastor Jodi. (I attend a Baptist church which has two lady ministers on the pastoral team.)We can live with peace and joy no matter...
