Not that you couldn't say the same of a flautist or a saxophonist, etc., it's just that the accordion is just a very large accordion (or organ in a sense) with a different mechanism for air flow. And also, it's funny, I thought of the accordion as the lamest thing in the world as a kid, associated only with polka (and a poor, very stereotypical image of that to boot), but certain strains of European folk music has convinced me that it is a powerfully beautiful instrument. And if you watch an accordion player knowing the basics of how it's done but having no skill or experience yourself, it is seriously the ultimate juggling act of rhythms and melodies.
