Had cultured weekend: theater, symphony, yogurt.

Backstory

This weekend I went to the symphony, saw a play and ate lots and lots of yogurt. The reason for the last action is that I need to keep my gut healthy while taking antibiotics to prevent infection from recent laser gum surgery (sorry if TMI). I ran out of my usual probiotic, so this weekend I relied on copious amounts of yogurt instead.

Funny thing is that I wrote this memoir yesterday before I saw the play, Educating Rita. During the play, Rita talks about how culture can mean theater, literature, the symphony, etc but realizes that culture can also refer to how a particular group behaves. She goes on to say that some people in her current life have less culture than a cup of yogurt! I was struck by the serendipitous nature of having my idea/words echoed back to me from the stage. The experience resonated with me as a much needed reminder that I write because I want to write and that my writing exists for its own sake. And that’s enough.
