The game of life. And death.
Backstory
I listened to an interview with Malcolm Gladwell this morning. He spoke very earnestly about contact sports, especially football and hockey, and the debilitating head injuries suffered by players. He referred to them as blood sports and likened them to dog fights, where the dog will do anything to please its master.Yes, I know. The Super Bowl is today and North Americans cannot get enough of the hype. Yes, even in Canada. But ... we might just stop for a moment and think about how hard these athletes are being pushed, and by whom.Google Dave Duerson, former Chicago Bear, and imagine how you'd feel if he were your son.

CF I love sports of all kind but everytime a player goes down and hesitates to get up I hold my breath because it can be so devastating if not fatal. I've seen most of the stories about all the players who have suffered severe blows to the brain over and over again and fight to get compensated for their injuries without results. And yes thats mostly football. I keep thinking they might do away with a sport that causes that much damage to so many individuals. But that's just me.ba_miracle says,
I Favorited this for the simplicity in the entirety of the statement. Not as it related to sports but that was an excellent point too. I will Google and read.DynamicDbytheC says,
