It's always been one of those "need to one day" books... but a student was distraught that I hadn't yet read it and gave me his copy to read. I'm so glad he did!!
Not a problem! I'm a fast reader and I'm enjoying it. :D
But he's already asked twice if I've finished... good thing my policy is to read any book a kid is jazzed enough about to bring me so we can talk about it. :P
Aww, I loved Twilight saga, until the last one. :) Then it just got wierd. (my opinion)
That is so nice you read the books to discuss with the students. I was always disappointed when I'd recommend a book I loved to someone and then never talk about it again.
I just meant that I couldn't finish it even though a kid recommended it.
I have always thought it was my responsibility to try to help kids love reading, so when a kid shows any enthusiasm for a book with me, I try to read it so they can talk to me about it. It's how I wound up reading about ten of the "Wheel of Time" books. That was a challenge too! LOL
This book, though, is totally up my alley and the kid knew it so I'm more than happy to read it and be a book nerd with him. Nerds rule!
Aww shucks! I don't know about that, but I just think that getting kids to love reading is sort of my "prime directive" and ultimately so much more important than some of the things I'm required to do. When I get a chance to get a kid hooked on reading, I'm going to do it!
MCM, I haven't read this book either, but will do so shortly, since you have brought it up. Also, very proud of you for being an involved teacher. Kudos.
Thanks lovelylizard, and I hope you will enjoy the book. It's got a wonderful mix of humor, scifi, and silliness... but it's also pretty darn awesome thus far..
these six words leapt out from the sermon I heard in church this morning. Thanks Pastor Jodi. (I attend a Baptist church which has two lady ministers on the pastoral team.)We can live with peace and joy no matter...
