Girl Scouts came up to my house selling cookies. Now they have the cookies on hand, instead of ordering and having to wait! Impulsive buy...but couldn't resist
I sold GS cookies for 50 cents a box. I had a wagon and went door to door in my neighborhood with cookies. My mom was cookie chairman (we didn't have pc names in those days) and so we had boxes and boxes in our garage. My most fond memory.
Funny thing about why I remember the cost. This old man (probably was 30) argued with me that they were too much money. He said he could go to the store and buy a whole bag of Mother's cookies for 39 cents. Here I was, a little girl, I was even a Brownie, not a full fledged GS, and this old man was arguing with me. So, not really a funny thing, but why it stuck in my memory. I'm going to let that memory go now! Bye, bye bad memory. I really love this site!
I hope the GS are at the store when I go....I'm leaving now.
I have sold and eaten many a box of these cookies...I'm looking for a chapter in my area so I can gain a pound or so. Thin Mints, peanut butter...yummm
Keep the memory Autumn22, those types of things remind us not to become cantankerous old bitties quarreling with kids at the door.
Autumn22. I picture a sweet, ,hopeful little girl looking up at the insensitive senior citizen. How unpleasant. There has to be a memoir in such a powerful experience. Not everyone is kind to Brownies/GirlScouts.
Thanks DD..C!! It's the very reason I continue to buy GS cookies and act excited about them! Although the excited part is easy when I see a box of Thin Mints. You know what else I like? Samoas. Those coconut chocolate ones. Hope they didn't discontinue them! Coconut isn't everyone's cup of tea.
Last weekend I met an amazing woman. She is the cantor at the synagogue where my nephew was bar mitzvahed. When she found out we were from Philly, she came over to our table at the luncheon to play ‘Jewish...
