You'd actually be happy to know that my computer automatically corrects me if I put in the word 'alot'...but just for this sake I put the words together.
Sometimes online it is just a typo, I know my spacebar sticks a lot and I'm too lazy to go back and correct. But the other thing is, a lot just doesn't look right to be as two words. I think of it as one word in my head. It is an expression I use...frequently. When I think about it in formal writing, I try to use other words to express frequency, but usually I'm more casual when I'm writing emails and such and just say alot, a lot.
