Played humdrum in mediocre marching band

Backstory

Our tepid marching band longed for Robert Preston's brassy touch.

Dean6805 says,

This is a workmanlike memoir. You have my indifference.

RaisedByWolves says,

Stunning dean stunning.

catsmeow says,

I'll see that indifference and raise you an apathy.

RaisedByWolves says,

Like I care?

Dean6805 says,

Can I offer ambivalence instead?

jl333 says,

These comments are cracking me up. Thanks for the pick-me-upper

RaisedByWolves says,

Go ahead, be that way. Good enough!

Dean6805 says,

This memoir's passable; RBW's harassable.

RaisedByWolves says,

Possibly also irascible

Dean6805 says,

But never erasable.

RaisedByWolves says,

Technically not so. Been there done that.

RaisedByWolves says,

I didn't play the drum anyway. Played coronet, nothing cool about coronet. No future except Salvation Army Bands. Maybe meet a tambourine Girl. Not like drums.

Dean6805 says,

Didn't Dizzy Gillespie play the coronet?

Dean6805 says,

Oops, my mistake. It was Louis Armstrong.

RaisedByWolves says,

That remark about Gillespie was very cheeky, indeed.

RaisedByWolves says,

Nothing against Salvation Army Bands, great message but music is old school.

catsmeow says,

Eh,I can take it or leave it.

RaisedByWolves says,

Many people don't realize the HumDrum is actually a woodwind instrument.

catsmeow says,

No!

canadafreeze says,

Clearly I'm late to the party - too much fun:-)

accidentaltourist says,

My grandfather played coronet....and my grandmother. For a fool.

RaisedByWolves says,

Women are sometimes attracted to the horn section.

RaisedByWolves says,

Boy do I feel dumb:
A coronet is a small crown consisting of ornaments fixed on a metal ring. By one definition, a coronet differs from a crown in that a coronet never has arches, and from a tiara in that a coronet completely encircles the head, while a tiara does not. By a slightly different definition, a crown is worn by a king or queen, a coronet by a nobleman or lady.

Perhaps if I hadn't skipped English to shoot eight-ball, I would have known the difference between "cornet and Coronet."
My apologies.

RaisedByWolves says,

At least this explains the lousy sound quality.

lillybrook says,

The torpor of this comment matches the memoir but not the lively conversation. This is a hoot to read!

jl333 says,

So in this case they played their cornets while wearing their coronets

RaisedByWolves says,

Precisely.

Level1 says,

This is brilliant!

RaisedByWolves says,

I am moved towards languorousness, yet buoyed by salty tears. Thanks Professor Hill for the music man.

catsmeow says,

And now we can all sit. You do sit? Your knees bend and all?

RaisedByWolves says,

Marion the librarian. Is that you?

catsmeow says,

Harold?
