How do I explain this one?

Backstory

The majority of my family believes two things about me, that I'm a girl and that I'll only date girls. Well I uh am now dating a boy (kinda a shock to me too) and he's gay, very blatantly so.

My sister knows and started laughing, my dad and step-mom on the other hand I have a feeling won't be as understanding... and I'm not exactly the best at hiding this kind of thing.

MO_Thoughts2 says,

Why hide it? It's too early to put labels on it. For the time being, he's your friend. Your parents will figure it out on their own.

BecomingLogyn says,

In my family if you like someone or are dating them you're expected to tell your parent(s) at the beginning of it so they can keep track of it... So far my dad has put it together and is basically just letting it go because I'm 18, my step-mom won't be as accepting of the idea though.
