Is it because it is half over, or you don't like hockey in general?
I'm a new hockey fan. Started liking it in Winter 2011. I was all excited for new season this year. Got a tshirt and everything. Story of my life. However, I have trouble following the puck. I lose it.
I'm not that jazzed now either. The lockout dampened my fun enthusiasm this year. But my Twitter timeline will be filled again. That makes me happy. I don't have TV so I have to "watch" on Twitter, or watch recaps online. I learn to adjust without tv.
I agree. At first I tried following the lockout talks to try to understnd the problem. But I found the "problem" to be so full of greed, I almost lost all my newfound interest. I felt bad for the fans, the workers/staff who think they have a somewhat secure job. When some of the players from my team left to play in Europe, I figured it would be a long negotiating time.
I live in Shark territory, but I have two favorite teams. Nashville Predators and Phoenix Coyotes. My local Shark fan friends do not understand me at all, but put up with it since I'm a newbe to the world of hockey. I think they are just glad I joined the hockey fan-base in general. Loved watching the playoffs last year. I grew up in So. CA, but I wasn't rooting for the Kings. I never seem to be a fan of a hometeam. I am a longtime Carolina Panthers fan, and Detroit Tigers fan. I'm a crazy fan, I know! Never lived in any of those places--only lived in CA.
Really enjoy all the hockey teams, except maybe one or two. I think they have good hearts, do lots of charity work, and have good sense of humor at Christmas time and other special times with their online videos and such. During the holiday, the Coyotes opened their rink so ticket holders could skate and it looked like so much fun for all the kids and the grown ups too.
I may just go to a Sharks game since I got over my crowd anxiety thing. The Preds sometimes play them out here. Or, I may go to a local sports bar to watch. My daughter tells me there is one bar owner who is a huge Sharks fan and it's just down the street from me. I could walk! I almost did last season, but couldn't actually do it. This year!!
See, I am totally a hometown (home state anyway) fan. I love my Red Wings, and I know I'll forgive them. I also know that Mr. Illitch is not one of the skeevy team owners, so he can do no wrong in my opinion. I guess once the season starts I'll feel better about it. It's just been odd without hockey here. I know when my husband moved here from SoCal he was shocked at how popular hockey is. Part of it is proximity to Canada, but we also have winter here and that makes hockey more of a viable option for people.
Anyway, I do love my wings, love Datsyuk and Zetterberg... going to miss Lidstrom a lot... he was just the classiest guy and a wonderful captian. It's hard to see Yzerman with another team though. *sad*
It'll be nice to break out the Wings gear from the closet though!
these six words leapt out from the sermon I heard in church this morning. Thanks Pastor Jodi. (I attend a Baptist church which has two lady ministers on the pastoral team.)We can live with peace and joy no matter...

I am a huge hockey fan... living in "Hockey Town" it's sort of a requirement. ;-)I'm just ticked at the whole lockout crap. It was silly, greedy, and disrespectful to the fans.
Anyway, I know I'll watch, I'll just be grumpy about it... until my Red Wings hit the ice anyway!
Who's your team?
