Need some mellow? Download whalesong app.

Backstory

Yeah, iTunes App Store really and truly has a whalesong app.

"Relax to the natural, mellifluous songs of whales.

"Enjoy this collection of whale songs from Humpback to Killer whales. Listen to the whales as you drift away to sleep. Listen to the whales to put yourself at ease while you work. Listen on the train, in the car, or anywhere else.

"While you listen, don't forget to enjoy the dozens of pictures of whales included with the application visualizer.

"All sounds are fully normalized, digitally mastered, and encoded as high-bitrate MP3s. This makes the audio quality perfect on the iPhone alone, and blissful when connected to a powerful stereo.

"Relax. Enjoy the whales."

For $.99, I really just might.

Dragonflower says,

I had a whale song cassette tape I used to play when my daughter was little. Put her right to sleep. However the loud "clunk" the tape player made when it reached the end, would startle her back awake!

I remember going to the stereo store trying every player to try to find one that shut off quietly. I dreamed of a whalesong app back them. I'd sit down at my 7 inch screen MacIntosh and dream away! Man, do I feel ancient right now.

Haha, so ancient, I cant manage the comment button!

MO_Thoughts2 says,

I have http://naturesoundsfor.me/ on my computer at work. One can mix their own nature sounds or listen to one that another person has created and saved. I had a fire crackling, crickets chirping, occasional owl hoot one going the other day. :-) Yes, there's an app option too.

Dean6805 says,

I'll check out the Nature Sounds site, MO. I absolutely love whale song. It's part of my favorite Incubus song, "The Warmth," so I looked whale song up on a whim. Of course, "there's an app for that!" I still get amazed that we live I. A world now where so much information is literally at our fingertips.

I also had a whale song cassette that I used for the relaxation portion of an exercise class I taught. The class loved it. I actually bought it for my daughter when she was small...she loved whales, she would pull the "W" encyclopedia off the shelf to find the full-color picture of them on a regular basis. She was two, and couldn't read, but she knew "W" meant whales.
