Backstory

The Shadow is Jung's term for the dark part of everyone's psyche, the dark parts of the collective unconscious that we have to accept and integrate or be consumed by. I had a mental image that even archetypes within the collective unconscious evolve as humanity changes, and I chose to phrase it in terms of The Shadow, because it implies a measure of development and growth even in the dark parts of ourselves. Everything has a kind of 'life' and a kind of organic 'cognizance'. Befriend the bogeyman or become his slave.
