Not missing New Year's party nonsense.
Backstory
Hubs and I are "old". We don't go out and get drunk, spend money we don't have, and "party" with people we don't know. We're more of the, stay home, watch movies, cuddle the dogs and perhaps fall asleep before midnight type.I wouldn't have it any other way at this point in my life!

I am with you and more people than you think feel the same. They say the way you end the year is the way your year will go. Starting it with love is the way to go.Dragonflower says,
In my whole life, I went out once on New Years Eve. It was to ring in 1980. For a while in the later 1980s, we used to have a progressive dinner with my church friends, ending the night playing various board games and eating desserts. Since then I've been a stay at home celebrator.Today I am going to do something intentional for me- like a massage, or pedicure, or even just a walk. I usually rearrange my apartment; moving furniture around makes me feel like I am starting new. I like my simple life. Big crowds and noise were never my cup of tea!

You just described me and my "better half" perfectly. Have done this routine for as long as I can remember. We did our partying when we were young. I rather stay home and be with him and my beloved dog. Also want to wish you a very Happy New Year!MotorCityMich says,
I would agree that more and more people are opting for this type of NYE. I think that means hubs and I are trend-setters!Or not. :)
I just remember being miserable at huge parties in my 20s and 30s. Now that I'm married and in my 40s, I don't feel like I have to go do that sort of thing. I'm so much happier spending time home with my husband and not out "celebrating" in a way that I never really enjoyed anyway.
And I like the idea of "setting the tone" of the year this way too.

Great minds think alike, Maryjane!Happy new year to you and yours!
Autumn, I like the idea of rearranging things... sort of a nice "fresh start" for the year! Enjoy!

NO PLACE LIKE HOME.:)Dragonflower says,
I love to hear that people stay home with their loved ones and pets. One year I house/pet sat for my daughter over New Years. I had the best time just celebrating with her dog, Van. I have a sort of "list" about the kind of qualities I want in my next love interest. One of the things I listed was that he would like staying home with me on New Years Eve. I just remembered that after reading all your comments.
