Backstory
I always throw a Post-Christmas/Pre-New Year party so that my kids and grandkids don't have to try to squeeze in visits to ALL the relatives on Christmas Day. That's fun! Because of our "modern family" we have Christmas on Christmas every other year, and celebrate Christmas on New Year's in between. Although I have enjoyed our Christmas on Christmas this year very much, the Christmas on New Year's has also become pretty fantastic -- plus, if you buy your presents last minute, you can cash in on the after Christmas clearance sales! Being flexible is so important at holiday time. Only Santa can get to all the houses in one night. For everyone one else it is just too much. There is a lot of fun continuing into the following week after Christmas. We have done this since 1992 so it is normal for us.
