SMITHMag snowstorm predicted for Connecticut kids!

Backstory

If you haven't read Tawnyport's backstory (and by the lack of a significant number of comments, my guess is that most of you haven't), you probably don't know that he is the director of cafeteria services for the New Town, CT school system. In another memoir that he posted he told of a request for snowflakes to decorate the new, temporary school for the Sandy Hook Elementary kids. There's an address to send them to. They're talking about the cut paper snowflakes that we learned to cut out when we were kids. I think it would be a lovely gesture for SmithMag members to each make and send six snowflakes to the school. The Sandy Hook incident touched everyone in this country but it literally grabbed one of our own and shook his world. I, for one, would like to show support for a fellow community member. I'll put the address and the memoir in the comment box for those who may be willing to participate.

I'm in. Big time.

canadafreeze says,

Thanks for the reminder. Six coming from way up north...

lovelylizard says,

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. We all want to do something, but don't know who, what or where. I think they'll be getting lots of snowflakes from the six-flakes.

accidentaltourist says,

I'm in. Do they have to be white?

L2L3 says,

Use the contact box and ask Tawnyport. I'm guessing that white would be what they had in mind.

jl333 says,

After reading your memoir, I started making some snowflakes. It took a little practice, trying to remember how to do it. My snowflakes will be in the mail first thing tomorrow. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, because apparently I missed TawnyPorts memoir the first time around. This is something that takes very little time but can make a huge impact!!

marymc says,

I will do my best.

Am going to send a note with mine, without giving his identity away, about TP.

jl333 says,

Darn, I didn't think to send a note. Looking back...I guess I should have.

lillybrook says,

I am doing this! Thanks for passing it on.

Wench says,

Just saw this. I'm in.

TawnyPort says,

Thank you everyone...I knew I could count on my Sixer friends far and near. I will post a picture as my profile pix, so everyone can get a sens of the winter wonderland you are helping to create!

Wench says,

I told my parents about it, my husband and dad sat around the living room and made them with me. My dad said that his work made and sent hundreds, as well. I hope that it's beautiful.

DynamicDbytheC says,

Six snowflakes sent. Thank you.

KharisJo says,

Temperatures soaring, cicadas carolling, creating snowflakes :)

BecomingLogyn says,

Thank you for reminding me! My school is asking kids to make them and turn them in when we return from break and will be sending them as one large thing, though I may do both.
