I live in a studio, so I don't have room for anything! For reasons I can't figure, whoever builds studios must believe that people who live in them don't own anything. Why not one wall of cupboards and drawers and a walk-in closet? It could have gone where the little bar thing is--I never use that!! Waste-o-space. SO, under my bed is my shoe closet. And I only have 3 pairs. Seriously. Totes are my fashion passion! They are in the closet.....such as it is. Loved your memoir.
