I came across my deceased mother's Christmas cookie cutter, one that has about six different shapes on a wheel that you roll over the dough after it has been rolled flat. That brought back memories of helping her make them at Christmas.

Love this. I'm up to my elbows in shortbread and I'm using a handmade ceramic cookie press that my mom gave me.(it has '76 carved on the top) Ah, memories indeed:-)

JAD says,

Love this too.

AQScott says,

Thanks everyone...it IS one of my dreams, actually, to open a bakery...I'm a firm believer that people need more homemade food in their lives...the kind that's made with love. But, as with many things, the fantasy is a lot more lovely than the reality, I'm sure :)

Dragonflower says,

I live around the corner from a bakery that started off very small. It is now a well-oiled organization. The baked goods are still delicious, although I had to cut back because they're all made with a little too much love! (for me love=butter). Baking stuff is such an undertaking! I wish you well. I remember a time, a long, long time ago, I made Gingerbread people with my co-worker/friend. We kept the dough in the refigerator overnight and then wondered why it wouldn't roll out! We didn't realize we needed to let it come to room temp. I think we were up till 2am or so making those guys! (uh, people). Keep the dream!
