This has a great kernel of truth to it, and meshes with something I came across recently in 'A Course in Miracles', and which I found quite profound, namely that: 'I am affected only by my thoughts.'
This is layered with truths. We're our own harshest critics. Our various selves battle with each other and get in each other's ways. Sometimes we do shit even we ourselves just don't get. I dig it.
