Dhani says,

Beat you! I'm 73 & doing 'gangnam' with my fourth graders.... (By the by, what does the word mean?)

JAD says,

congrats! keep it up.

Dragonflower says,

Dhani, The word is actually the name of a district in Korea. It is affluent. The story of Psy's rise to fame is very interesting. Loved watching him on the AMAs and the audience participation. It is a funny dance that makes me smile. I might give it a whirl. After all, I just did the Time Warp at a Rocky Horror stage show!

Dragonflower says,

PS. I'm going to be 60 on the winter solstice! I feel I've stopped moving as much as I used to, so this memoir truly inspired me. And all the comments!

Wench says,

You are now my hero.

MO_Thoughts2 says,

Love this ... I can feel the joy !

Believe says,

You are a brilliant dancer! And this is a brilliant memoir!

favepeep says,

I am jealous. Kudos on MOTD!

oopsalittle says,

thanks everyone - so sweet. Glad you like it cos I'm having so much fun (and rediscovering muscles I'd forgotten I had)
The children are performing three songs:
-Santa was his name-o (sung to tune of Bingo was his name)
-Singing in the rain (choocha nana)
-Gangnam Style
It’s a lot of fun and a lot of work – we have to practice every day. I’ve had to start using a ‘reward system’ as these kids often decide whether they want to practice or not! Every day after practice they get a ‘surprise reward’. Yesterday they got a small chocolate and one child started crying and refused it because it was round ‘not a rectangle’.
I love them!!!

Dragonflower says,

I don't like things that are not as I expect them to be either--ie round vs rectangle. Back in the day, my favorite thing about Christmas was the pagent we would put on in school and the practicing every day. I wish I could come to your event. Thank you for your inspiration.

oopsalittle says,

Autumn I wanna see a pic of you doing the time warp - you go girl!
Yeah the reward strategy is touch and go. That's why I call it the 'surprise reward' we don't know what it will be until AFTER the practice. Sometimes I'm the one that gets surprised with their gorgeous insightful responses.
I'm with you - I don't actually wear anything with dots....
PS - today they got a tiny star sticker which they all loved!

oopsalittle says,

I can't post a pic of the kids but I've posted a pic of what they'll be wearing!

canadafreeze says,

Over the past several years, I have learned much through a personal connection to a young man diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. His life has made me want to know more about autism and how we all fit on the same spectrum.

Dhani says,

(But is it REALLY dancing?...)

oopsalittle says,

Canadafreeze - I have kept in touch with one student that I have known since he was about six/seven. Soon he will be 24! He is a wonderful person and has an interesting view of the world and people. One day he was visiting and at that point I was into feng shui so there were interesting objects in different areas of my house. He asked what they were and I told him. Afterwards he said ' these are not going to work for you' . I asked why not? 'Because you're not Asian' he replied.
WOW

Redx3 says,

oops, you are MY hero!
