"Mind changing those gloves? That's nasty."

Backstory

Went to Subway tonight to grab a couple of footlong sandwiches. As the young lad popped my sandwich into the toaster oven, he went over and started pushing buttons on the cash register with his food gloves on! After pushing misc. buttons, he took my sandwich out of the toaster oven and proceeded to ask me what I wanted on my sandwiches! I was grossed out, thinking how nasty that was that he wants to now dip his hands in all of the fixings with the same gloves that he just used on the cash register. I called him out on it, and asked him to change his gloves before he touches any other food. He was clearly annoyed. Right then the manager walks in and asks what the problem was. I told her that he had food gloves on, went over and touched buttons all over the register, and now wants to touch food without changing his gloves! I told them both, that's nasty. And hopefully he was so embarrassed that he'll never do it again!

Good for you! We go to the Subway near us for those footlongs and it is a very busy place. Thank goodness I heard the manager tell the ones preparing the sandwiches that they are not to ring anything up with gloves on. They had a young man doing the register. Manager was training and we thought the young people were doing a good job. Hey when it comes to handling food we are very fussy because you can easily get food poisoning.I also check at Walmarts when in the Deli dept. Once I caught a woman without gloves and I also called her on it. Put the gloves on and don't touch anything else, please!!

Neither of you could hold a candle to this nurse's ocd issues with the gloves of others. Seriously. My husband refuses to even approach the deli counter with me. Food service workers seem to erroneously believe that the glves somehow serve to protect THEM.

Wish you were there for this one L2L3.

I used to work at a Wawa (East coast's version, roughly, of a Subway). I was meticulous with gloves, tried to change them after every sandwich, always kept the counters clean. So it drove me up a wall when a woman asked me to change my gloves, because I had literally just put them on to make her sandwich. I usually just kept to myself but I actually said, "You just saw me put gloves on. Are you serious?" But I know there were plenty of employees who just wore the same pair for an hour, that was gross.
