We hugged, kissed and said goodbye.

Backstory

The last almost 2 weeks with Dad have been the greatest gift of my life. I'm flying home tomorrow. He could live another week or another month. I will call him everyday, but I left nothing unsaid today.

canadafreeze says,

I know how you feel, Mary. I spent ten days with my mom before she died, and it was, indeed, a gift. The morning she died, her presence filled my room and i knew she was set free. Prayers and blessings to you.

L2L3 says,

You were given the farewell that everyone wishes for, usually after the fact. Fly in peace, friend.

ba_miracle says,

My sisters flew me out to see my mom months before she passed. We had a good visit, she had just started a course of medicine that gave her a bit of a lift. I got to be with her for some "perfect" time. It made a world of difference.
So glad you got a little peace for this difficult time.
Prayers and good wishes heading your way.

I'm happy to hear that you're using all the time you can. I can relate. Before my MomMom (grandma) passed. I called everyday. Visited every couple of days. I took off school a few times to go with my mother who took care of her at the time.

Mary, I hope using this time has given you peace of mind. You and your father will be in my thoughts.
