Mom's turned into Honey Boo Boo.

Backstory

We met with Hospice today (wonderful organization) as well as strong friends coming to say good bye. Alzheimer's has turned Mom into a petulant child. Inappropriate responses. Needing the attention on her. Constant babbling. I am trying to give Dad the dignified end he so desperately wants while controlling his unruly 6 year old wife. I was with them for 12 hours today and have never been this wired/exhausted in my life. I am thankful that she is so emotionally removed from the situation, but it's difficult to see her behavior not understood by my niece and nephew (16 and 12). Thank God and all that is holy that my son is here for my dad and me. He is our strength right now and I would be lost without him.

NumbrOneAunt says,

mary, maybe your son can sit down with your niece and nephew and explain to them that their grandma is behaving differently because of the disease and they should remember her as she was before she got sick. as notjust said, i'm very thankful for your sake that he's there to provide support for you and your dad. please tell him from me that HE'S "effing awesome". ..... the dots represent a prayer i just sent up for your whole family. please accept hug number 3 from me.

Funny how that support thing comes full-circle with multiple links. Never has "intertwined" been such an appropriate word;-D

Wench says,

I'm so sorry.
