It does indeed feel like a massa-cree, but I'm likewise working on tolerance. Kind of hoping they complete the "creative writing" segment and move on to "diagramming sentences" soon.
Maybe you can co teach with Mr. Steffey? I am still unsure of his objective but maybe he can chanel the memoirs to a word of the day? Even a choice of words? Something, anything...If this person is a teacher, isn't there any point in time when there is closure of the lesson that goes hand in hand with assessemnt of objective met? Just sayin
I'd never try to quash the creative attempts of new writers; I'm just with you, SP, in that I believe the venerated Mr. Steffey could go about utilizing 6WM in a much more effective way. It's simultaneously frustrating and inspiring to see such a flood of memoirs from the kids. And yes, I read Believe's memoir about it and am certainly of the same opinion that there have been some bits of gold among the dross.
Sure, it can be less than ideal when a classroom crashes into the site messily, but there are some gems in there... I am working on a way to create an area just for classrooms. But even if so, you do lose some of the unexpected pleasures on young writers. And I'll also add that "Featured," "Most Favorites" and "Most Commented" are built-in curation systems for the site.
