Backstory
I sit here - in this tiny cubicle - in the white hospital gown I've changed into with opening at the front for easy access for the radiologist to perform the ultrasound and check this 'mass' that has been found in my breast. There are two doors. One door leads out into the waiting room where my partner is sitting, reading the paper without really seeing any words. He waits for me - he'll be trying to read my face for news the second I walk through that door. The second door leads to the hospital bed, ultrasound machine and a man with glasses and a kind smile. I'm ready and just waiting for him to come get me and do the ultrasound. My life in this cubicle is on hold.

James and I probably paid for a wing or two of the hospital. Great backstory. I felt like I was right there waiting for my mammogram (not like a candygram). The not knowing is the hard part. Once you know and go into action, even if it sucks, it feels like you are taking control and doing something. Action is hope. Not knowing can make our minds imagine too many bad things. Breast cancer is one of the cancers with lots of money and attention, so there is a lot of hope.jl333 says,

Thank you for your wonderful kind and thoughtful words and wishes...Update- I'M SO RELIEVED... Ultrasound- They searched and searched for the 'mass' that was originally there - approx
2 .5cm - and it was nowhere to be found. Perhaps it was a a cyst. I don't know.. They sent me home - no need for a biopsy for a lump they couldn't find. John and I left the hospital - two completely different people to the ones that had walked in earlier - smiling from ear to ear. I still have to go for follow up to see my oncologist on Monday... And I still have the 'small cell change' in my other breast where the original cancer was ( that has to be checked again in november) But for now - we feel like we have our lives back.....

Thanks everyone so much!Sorry for not responding to some email messages I've received - My Internet keeps cutting out - sooo frustrating!!! I'm in the process of changing providers which should happen this week. Hopefully early in the week rather than later.

BTW - Yesterday John and I celebrated nine years together -two wonderful things this week!.... we enjoyed a seafood lunch with champagne and a walk on the beach. It would have been way more romantic if we weren't getting blown away by a fierce wind - but we didn't care! ( yep - more champers!!!)L2L3 says,
