A young Iranian man who many years ago attended college here in the United States once asked a young female friend of mine something about a junkyard. Because of the young Iranian man's heavy accent, my friend thought he was asking about American poet John Ciardi, whose last name she always mispronounced as "kee-YARD-ee."
