Backstory
People mean more than things. Becoming a parent has taught me to focus less on what I have, or what I am achieving, or what will happen tomorrow and focus more on being in the present moment. My sons always notice things: a swallow's nest hiding in the rafter of a gazebo by the lake or the way the plastic modern art installation at the museum looks like a fiery golden sun, when you stare at it and walk quickly from end to end. In this photo, it is the last day of school before summer vacation, and we are looking at the fish swim aimlessly in the lake near the boardwalk. I took a photo of our shadow, because my youngest son noticed our three shadows coming together in a "cool" pattern, and there wasn't anything more important than capturing that moment and my son's great idea. May our children always have brilliant ideas and the confidence to share them.
