Mourningdove says,

I would have to say yes but it would suck! When I was in my young 20's I had purchased my own condo and the air conditioning broke.I went the rest of the summer with out, thinking "The pioneers did with out it" turns out later after a friend of my dad's came over I only needed coolant, the first "repairman" tried to rip me off and get me to have him install a new unit.

Contemplative says,

Yes, there is and it is extremely uncomfortable and not at all conducive to sleep and wellness. Trying to tough it out like MD, have a small window unit for when it gets to be over 100 degrees or so. I tell myself I'm lucky to have a roof over my head...many don't. Gratitude replaces my grumpiness in seconds when I reflect on that.

Heem08 says,

Growing up we had fans. Now 40+ years later airconditioner is a must.

marymc says,

We have A/C but have never turned it on. Our house is a raised ranch, so the lower level is half underground. It's cooler, but at night we go upstairs to sleep and 3 fans are required.

favepeep says,

Not for me. I get physically ill when the heat and humidity go up and the air quality goes down.
