Mom? That is so unfair. I hope James makes it until 53 or more!

jl333 says,

Yes DD. My Mom. She died of cancer. I wish the best for James.

ba_miracle says,

Yes jl333, 53 years is not enough mom time. Cancer really ticks me off sometimes. Sorry you have had that loss (I send a hug in solidarity).
I pray for you feel some peace and good health for James and DynamicD.

NumbrOneAunt says,

my deepest sympathy to you along with another hug over the internet. .loss of mom is one of the toughest losses we face in this life.

DynamicDbytheC says,

Yes, we have only one mom. jl333 be religious about all your physicals and screenings!!

jl333 says,

DD, as of last year, I started getting physicals and screenings. The doctor was blown away at how awful my family history is. Most of my aunts and uncles have had heart attacks all in their 40's, twin brother had a heart attack while in his early 30's, and basically even though I eat healthy and get plenty of exercise, the doctor says I'm a ticking time bomb. Just goes to show that you can't judge a book by it's cover, because I look healthy as ever!

scribbling_scribe says,

So sorry for your loss, jl333. Here is another iHug!

Believe says,

So sorry to hear of your loss. Treasure memories.

notjustagirlintheworld says,

my deepest sympathies.

DynamicDbytheC says,

jl333, when James got advance cancer he was 46 years old, had just won BAR, best all around racer in his bike racing club, had a resting heart rate of 44, ate healthy, etc. Bad family history and we expected cancer someday, but we were thinking in his 70s or 80s. Looking back, I would have paid cash for MORE screeings even though he was doing them at the rate they suggested. Losing someone you love deeply and who loves you deeply is the deepest pain I can think of. I am glad you have found a way to have a "sparkly" life. Your memoirs are often sparkly in my book. Many hugs. I lost my mom when she was age 49.

jl333 says,

That's crazy to think of somebody as healthy as James having advanced cancer at the young age of 46. I, too, have an extremely healthy resting heart rate...but like James, you can't do a darn thing with family genes. As my doctor puts it..."you've been dealt a bad hand" (bing, never thought of it before, but that's a great sixer!). My cholestorol levels are border line high risk. I told the doctor that's impossible and demanded a retest. Sure enough, my numbers were on the verge of high risk. Me? Impossible. I eat 5-9 servings of fruits and veggies a day and my choice drink is Fusion V-8! But nope, my numbers are off the charts. Thanks for thinking I'm 'sparkly'. I happen to think the same of you. Sorry to hear you lost your Mom at 49. That's awful.

canadafreeze says,

So sorry, jl.

Wench says,

I'm very sorry. Cancer sucks, death shouldn't be like that.

favepeep says,

Sorry for your loss. My mom was just 52...hard, hard times.

jl333 says,

That's so sad favepeep. Seems like a lot of us have lost our parents while they were still young themselves!

JAD says,

Sorry jl333 for your loss and others who share same loss. Thank God I still have my mom at 84 she has survived breast cancer thus far, but battling dementia. Never know what life will give you maybe it's how you handle it. DDC is a prime example.

KharisJo says,
