Updyke tried by jury of "peers."
Backstory
So if you are not from the south or otherwise not a follower of SEC football, you may not know who Harvey Updyke is. Take a minute to Google him. (No really, I'll wait.) So, I'm not a super-crazy devoted football fan, but I am an Auburn alum so when this guy poisoned the trees on the campus of my alma mater, I wasn't pleased. They are holding the jury selection this week...in Lee county, of course. I can't imagine that ole' Harvey could possibly get a fair trial in Tiger country. What a (alleged) moron. I'm an alum of the University of Alabama, and I believe that this guy should be banned from wearing any UA paraphernalia at all, and that if anyone ever hears him say "Roll Tide" they should be able to punch him dead in the face without legal repercussions. He is the worst kind of example of a fanatic. Sports should be about sportsmanship, pride and athleticism, not mean-spirited nastiness like what he (allegedly) did. The news reported yesterday morning that he (allegedly) confessed during a break, but his lawyers are denying that he said anything.
