Larry_D._Smith says,

We've been reading "Mickey and the Night Kitchen" a lot lately -- I really want my boy to love it as much as I do.

Level1 says,

He will Larry, he will. Thank you for the feature today. I should also thank Maurice :-) His illustrations colored my life long love of art, books and all things creative.

MrsPremise says,

Congratulations on the MOTD!
We will all miss Maurice.

jene2008 says,

Congrats on MOTD! Love all your memoirs! :)

canadafreeze says,

Perfect tribute for today. Maurice Sendak''s stories and illustrations colored my son's life, especially. It gave him courage when he was Max's age.

marymc says,

My boy and I share our love of wild things to this day.

KharisJo says,

oopsalittle says,

Congrats!!!

Wench says,

My mom always used to say, "I'll eat you up, I love you so!" I loved his stories so much, and now I read them to my baby.

Jujeebal says,

What a wonderful tribute. Loved his stories. Congrats!

Level1 says,

Wench, it was all I could do not to actually bite my son's drum stick like thighs when he was a baby :-) M.S. captured what so many of us thought, both as children and later as adults. His books were brilliant and have stood the test of time.

Larry_D._Smith says,

We're going to leave this up as MOTD for today, too in honor of Mr. Sendak.

Level1 says,

:-) Thank you again!!!!!

Undermom says,

Mr Sendak's own favorites of his books were Outside Over There and Higglety Pigglety Pop. Read them to your kids tonight in his honor. :)

LucidDreamer says,

Congrats and well said!

tonyglim says,

In January 1987 Maurice Sendak said, "You cannot write for children . . . They're much too complicated. You can only write books that are of interest to rhem."

Level1 says,

Tony, thank you for sharing the quote. M.S. was a wise man :-)

tonyglim says,

That final word in the Sendak quotation above should be "them." Sorry for the typo.

Level1 says,

I knew that :-)

lillybrook says,

Yes, yes, yes! Wild Rumpus!
