I was born in the US, but grew up living in Japan and Singapore. I don't identify with any of the cultures exactly. I do, however, identify with others who've had the same childhood experiences, living amongst worlds. I love this.
I think people who've lived abroad, especially as children, must have such interesting perceptions of the world. I know someone who was born in Holland and his mother was British, so he has dual citizenship. He went to school in Indonesia and Japan and Thailand. He said he felt comfortable living anywhere. Where do you live now?
I definitely agree and strongly encourage traveling. Similar to your friend, I can pretty much fit in anywhere, but only for short periods of time. I'd been splitting time between Japan and the US going on three years. Been in NYC since December and already planning my next move.
these six words leapt out from the sermon I heard in church this morning. Thanks Pastor Jodi. (I attend a Baptist church which has two lady ministers on the pastoral team.)We can live with peace and joy no matter...
