If you don't really know the person well, then yes. But it isn't difficult to identify the people that make critical comments about themselves so that others will disagree and tell them how great they are. It is also easy to sniff out those that make such comments but act like their crap smells like roses. Eventually, false humility is shown to those closest to the person.
