I answered a post by Gretchen Rubin (author of The Happiness Project) this morning that got me thinking. She asked this:
HAPPINESS QUESTION: When you're feeling upset or anxious, do you have an activity that always comforts you? I re-read my favorite books from childhood. Can't count how many times I've read "The Secret Garden" or "The Magician's Nephew."
I answered: Singing.
This question rolled around in my head today until a song I used to sing as a kid popped into my head, and it's been stuck there ever since. You'll never guess which song. It's a song by the Chipmunks. From the '60s. (gasp) I can't attach it here in a note, but I'll post the link momentarily. Have a nice laugh. It's called "Sing a Goofy Song." Anybody besides me remember that? It's not what I had in mind when I answered Gretchen, but it's certainly stuck in my head now. And it still makes me smile. What can I say?
Here's the link to the song for those of you who are too young to remember it:
these six words leapt out from the sermon I heard in church this morning. Thanks Pastor Jodi. (I attend a Baptist church which has two lady ministers on the pastoral team.)We can live with peace and joy no matter...
